New Series of Art Depicting Pain

25/8/2014

In June and July I worked furiously on a series of drawings and etchings depicting my pain. I used a variety of symbols and graphic shapes which is how I visualize my pain; it is always hovering in the space around me, lurking overhead, it strikes swiftly like a shot from a gun, without warning, and the impact is penetrating and intense. After I finished these etchings I had some severe pain flares and decided the etchings were a fairly tame depiction of my pain and that it is very difficult to translate any pain via art. However I do know that my pain is an experience that will continue to influence my art at a conscious and subconscious level the same as any other major life changing experience.
